UPDATES:
  • I really want an iPhone now that they used Amelie in the advertisement. Viva la the best film evah! Well, my favorite film, anyway.

  • I want to join the Hollywood Sound Effects Choir!!!
  • I am SO happy to miss the Supporting Actor! It means that all bets are off. Great surprise!
  • Animated feature. Oy. If I get this wrong, I shall be shunned and have an anvil dropped on my head. OUCH! MY HEAD! This year was tough. Cars had won all the other awards, but the Academy votes for fads at times — like freakin’ penguins!
  • The last few years of the Oscars have been such a weird mix of traditional and the new. I should haven’t known better and gone with Marie Antoinette. Too bad there are no hip-hop songs nominated to vote for.
  • Looks like Pan’s Labyrinth is the film to beat this year. Maybe Little Miss Sunshine will win Best Picture. A comedy winning would be very cool.
  • Dead’s Man Chest deserves that award. The villains were simply amazing.
  • Whoa! I guess Pan’s Labyrinth is NOT the movie to beat. Cool!
  • Now he’s charismatic? Maybe it was much better for Al Gore that events happened the way they did. He seems much happier now than his eight years in office.
  • I’m going to get so much crap for this, but the Ennio Morricone song is quite beautiful and Celine did a wonderful job with it.
  • Go Melissa!
  • Why is Chris O’Donnell so annoying? Shuddup!
  • Hahahaha! Only Ellen would vacuum at the Oscars! I love her.
  • Why does Reese have hooker hair?
  • Well, poo. I was hoping to get Picture wrong, but it’s cool. Many surprises this year which made this Oscar more enjoyable than they have in a while.

I could frankly care less. I’m not even planning to watch.

I haven’t seen any of the Best Picture nominees but Little Miss Sunshine, which I adored.

I’m in agreement with you somewhat. I was extremely underwhelmed by the nominations, but always find myself getting excited that this will be the first year I break the get-20-right mark. I’m excited to see Ellen at least.

Little Miss Sunshine was my favorite film of last year so I’m routing for it, but the Academy has never really taken comedy as legit film.

Souds pretty good but there is no way Departed will get best pic AND best adapted screenplay. Best adapted is for whatever didn’t get nominated and should have (Children of Men, ahem)

We shall see who laughs last. I will be calling you after the announcement for that award to rub it in your face.

Good job on the Oscar picks. Not bad. Not bad at all!! :)

Ever since moving I can’t keep up with these award shows.

Besides, the only movie on that list that I have seen is The Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and that is because it was playing on the plane when I returned to the states for Thanksgiving.

  8. February 27, 2007 at 6:37 am

Eh. If it wasn’t for Ellen, I’d have skipped them entirely.

    Leslie:
I can delete it, but I won’t. I actually agree that Children Of Men should have won.

    FBC:
Thanks! It’s not my best year, but did better than I thought considering all the surprises.

    Duck:
We’re in the same boat. I didn’t get to see much film last year either, but I did see Dead Man’s Chest 3 times. :)

    Kevin:
Yeah, I love her, too. Loved the vacuum bit.

I nearly passed out from the boredom. Crazy speeches were missing. The dresses weren’t revealing enough (although I’m admitting to a crush on Helen Mirren).

I should have turned on around 11 or so and just watched the big awards.

  11. February 27, 2007 at 6:46 pm

I wanted so more emotion in the speeches for sure. I was busy trying to write an article so I wasn’t really paying attention unless an award or Ellen were on.

I’m glad I didn’t watch. Unless they showed Clive Owen. DID they show Clive Owen?
